Citrus Walnut Salad

Another salad with walnuts that is sure to be beneficial to your health. Eating salads with walnuts is one way to ensure that we benefit the heart as well as improve cognitive abilities.

The colorful salad is appealing and will invite others to partake of this very easy to make yet so full of nutrients, like vitamins, fiber, iron, and beta carotene amongst other benefits.

In this recipe I have used pre-packaged greens as a base. The carrots are also pre-sliced. Although the package states the contents have been washed, I always wash it again under running water.


  • 1 cup spinach leaves
  • 1 cup radicchio leaves
  • ½ cup pre-sliced sliced carrots
  • ½ cucumber peeled & cut in slices
  • 1 red orange, peeled, & sliced in pieces
  • 1 cup shelled walnuts
  • 2 tblsps. Italian dressing or one of your choice


  • Wash all ingredients as recommended. Remove excess water from ingredients with a salad spinner
  • When all vegetables and oranges are washed & sliced, mix together
  • Add walnuts
  • When ready to serve toss salad
  • Choose, either Italian or balsamic vinaigrette. Enjoy this delicious salad
